Visit The United Kingdom Surf CapitalAn area that is very popular with both domestic and international tourists in the United Kingdom is the county of Cornwall. The area has long been associated with rolling countryside and idyllic golden sandy beaches. In Cornwall there is a host of places to stay whilst on vacation, from hotels and hostels to some superb value cheap holiday cottages. The holiday cottages in Cornwall prove most popular with families, and also people who own dogs, as many of the cottages now cater for family pets.
In the Northern part of the county the area surrounding Newquay has proved to be most popular of all with travellers. There are many reasons for this, but perhaps the biggest draw in recent times is that Newquay is considered the surfing capital of the United Kingdom. The town itself has four beaches that surfers from all over the world head for, in particular during the summer months. By far the most popular of these is Fistral Beach which is the largest all the beaches, and more often than not produces the best waves to catch. The beach also plays host to a large number of international surfing competitions right throughout the year, the most famous of theses being the Boardmasters Festival held every August.
